Who We Are

The Surinamese branch of a worldwide network

GIO Suriname is the Surinamese chapter of the Global Indian Organisation (GIO), an international non-profit, non-political and non-sectarian organisation founded in the United Kingdom.

GIO provides a global platform for people of Indian origin — NRIs, OCIs and their descendants — to collaborate on cultural, educational, social, economic and community levels.

The Surinamese chapter was officially established in Paramaribo, with the Indian Ambassador to Suriname in attendance. We are registered in the Caribbean & Latin America region of GIO International.
